TBC: Karazhan Tower
Karazhan Tower is the home and base of Medivh, the powerful sorcerer who first opened the Dark Portal in the Warcraft universe. Karazhan Tower is situated at the lower end of Deadwind Pass, and was used as Medivh’s base of operations. Six years after the opening of the Dark Portal, Karazhan was stormed by Sir Lothar, an old friend of Medivh’s, who had learned of the opening of the portal, with the help of Khadgar, Medivh’s apprentice. With the death of Medivh, the tower lay empty for many years, until the point of the new World of Warcraft expansion, the Burning Crusade. The design is that the lower levels of the tower (below ground) mirror those of the above.
In the expansion, Karazhan will be the point of a new high level raid, which will be needed to access the dark portal. It is speculated that there will in fact be a number of scripted boss encounters in the tower.
